For new students

Who can train in the Bujinkan?

Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu works well for men and women, for large people and small people, for old and young, for athletes in the peak of health and for people with physical limitations. At the Atlanta Bujinkan Dojo, we have students with a wide range of shapes, sizes, agility, flexibility, and a variety of prior martial arts experience, or no previous experience at all.

Our Adult program is for students of all ages, with a minimum age of 18. Our Youth program is for students from age 12 to 17, with parent or legal guardian permission.

How do I get started?

Before you can begin training with us, you need to complete the student questionnaire. It’s not very formal, but it helps us get to know you and what you’re looking for from this art and our school.

Shortly after that, we’ll contact you. One of the black belts will set up an appointment for you to have an Introductory Session. Once you confirm your appointment, we’ll send you the address and more information about your first visit.

Can I just stop by?

Actually, we’d rather you set up an appointment with us first. The dojo is a bit like our home—all kinds of people are welcome, but we’d still like to know who’s coming over, and when. If you walk in unexpectedly, you may be disrupting the class that’s in session or disturbing the teacher who’s preparing before it starts. Also, sometimes we hold classes in other locations, and not every field trip will be announced on the public website. Pre-arranging your visit ensures that someone will be available to talk to you. If you want to see what it’s like before you decide whether to start training, you can do that as a part of an Introductory Session.
